White Rock = Shrimp Dinner
I spent the weekend in Anilao with Adel and the Mister. We tried line fishing (well, Virgil did, and we mostly sat on the boat) and did one dive in Kanto 2. Saturday was devoted to fishing. We had chopsticks, Kikkoman and wasabi. We tried all day, but no fish. Bitemarks on the lure - yes. Fish on the hook - no.
Virgil mentioned that Mr. Shakey’s once collected a whole bunch of white rocks from the beach. On Bayawak beach last Saturday, after the giant grilled pork ribs lunch, I noticed a big white rock. I asked if that was the kind Mr. Shakey’s liked. He said he couldn’t tell. I couldn’t either. So I bullied the Mister into picking up rocks for me.
hehe..I picked out three of what I thought were the best ones. But I made the Mister make the ultimate choice. He liked the biggest one for reasons I prefer not to say.
From Anilao I made the Mister drive straight to Mr.Shakey’s house before we went to eat dinner because I was worried after dinner might be rather late. I rang the bell, twice, three times, four times, and waited, and waited. Until the Mister decided to call Mr. Shakey’s to find out if anyone was home at all. And wouldn’t you know it. Mr. Shakey’s came out himself!
The doorbell was broken, and he was delighted when we presented him with the rock!
I had no idea he would find it pretty! And he led us in to show off his perfect aquarium. And then he made us stay for dinner. Tell me, when you feel that you’ve intruded, how do you say no to someone who has offered to share his dinner with you? I didn’t know how. So we ended up staying. The Mister, Adel and I. And we had shrimp, and it was so good!
We spent the entire Saturday trying to catch fish, when all needed was a white rock for good shrimp.
But more than that, the encouragement and the way he teaches us about building a business is priceless. I will never meet anyone who will be so open and supportive that way. Sometimes I feel bad that after all the help he’s offered us, we still have not completed a successful trade off. But whenever he sends me email or tells me stories, I start feeling like we can make everything good happen to us.

Mr Shakey sounds like a top man! I’m sure you will succeed but these things always take time!
Cheers
